Heaven Star is heavenly.

3:45 AM

Today, I left Ormoc via the big boat, even though I had a P210 return ticket for Supercat. Why? Because my mom is with me — and you know how she is when it comes to water travel. As expected, the boat was packed. There were so many students on board plus a whole lotta priests because they were off to a week-long seminar.

What came as a surprise was that they opened the cabins! The M/V Heaven Star *DO NOT* sell tickets for the cabin accommodations if you are bound for Cebu, although they do offer that en route to Ormoc from Cebu. Had we known earlier we’d have gotten those instead of the tourist tickets.

Good thing there was Frieda, who managed to upgrade us to a suite accommodation; and my Mama, being an active Mother Butler Mission Guilds member, gave our existing beds to 2 priests.

FACT: The Mother Butler Mission Guilds was founded by Clara Corpus in the Philippines to provide poor Catholic churches and missions with liturgical vestments and sacred vessels, and to financially support the vocation to priesthood of poor seminarians.

Today, there are 55 chapters with more than 3,000 members all over the country. Mother Butler members also undertake gift-givings for paraplegics, feeding programs for street children and hopes to inspire more volunteer workers in the service of the Lord.

Back to the suite life, here’s a couple of pictures we took. Aside from the really comfy bed, a love seat, and a nice bathroom; the room had a “Titanic” feel to it.
